Whoot! It’s Ball Hockey Tourney Time!

May 2, 2018 ~ Jump up if you like a bit’a ball hockey! What is probably the biggest ball hockey tournament in Green Bay is happening next month.

The 4th Annual Kim Budgell Memorial Street Hockey Tournament is slated for June 23rd, 2018. It will once again be held on the grounds of Valmont Academy in King’s Point, as well as at the outdoor rink behind the school.

The community’s fire hall next door will also be put to use. A tournament this big needs a lot of space.

Last year the annual ball hockey tournament was held on June 10th. The event has been growing in size each year and 2017 saw the biggest one to date. Nearly 250 players on 34 teams participated. They drove in from near and from not so near: Brighton and Triton, Fleur de Lys and La Scie.

$5300 was raised and donated to the CIBC Run For The Cure.

What is always notable about the yearly tournament is how nice it is. It is, simply, a very good day of friendly outdoor hockey.

June 23rd’s 3 on 3 street hockey tourney will be hosted by Valmont Academy, organized again by teachers and their friends in memory of well-respected former principal Kim Budgell.

Players will be young and old-ish 🙂 and games will happen simultaneously, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Food and washrooms will be available on site and the event makes for a nice ‘spectator sport’ as well as a great day for players.

Information for Registrants:

Team Composition: maximum 6 players plus a goalie (7 total)

Divisions: 14 & under male, 15 & over male, 18 & under female, 19 & over female.

Registration: $50 per team. To register your team, message Stephen Earle on Facebook, call Valmont Academy at 268-2205, or call Ryan Kelley at 268-3344. Please state your division and number of players. Younger players can play up a division, but older players cannot play down a division.
