Sing-a-Long to Support a Historical Green Bay Building | Feb. 23rd

A Warm Night Inside to Keep an Old Church Warm

Sing-a-Long to Support a Historical Green Bay Building | Feb. 23rd

A Gospel Sing-A-Long will be held at Jackson’s Cove United Church on Friday, February 23, 2018, at 7 p.m.

A free will offering will be collected to help pay for an oil tank that was recently installed there.

There aren’t many buildings in Green Bay as old as the United Church in Jackson’s Cove. It has been about 100 years since this little church was finished. The church’s age shows in the quiet dings and scratches in the pews and wooden flooring. These are the marks of 100 years of history and community.

This church was built and polished entirely by hand. All the wood used would have been born as timber felled by men in March and hauled out to the cove over the snow.

If you think about it, you can imagine the huge amount of time and effort that went into this building in Jackson’s Cove, at a time long before the convenience of being able to have construction materials delivered from a store in Springdale.

This building provided comfort and a meeting place through wars, a depression, confederation, upswings and downturns.

And after so many old buildings in Green Bay have long gone, this one still stands.

That is why keeping the heat on in that building is an important thing to support.

And Friday the 23rd, 2018, will give you a chance to sit in one of those pews and soak in the past.
