Roberts Arm Didn’t Have Enough For Council But Now a Race Is On

Most communities have concluded their Municipal Elections but in Roberts Arm things are just heating up.

A nomination day was held there on September 5th but in this town of around 800 people only four people came forward looking for positions on the Town Council.

The four who did step up were Derrick Hicks, Donald Paddock, Leander Hewlett and Lori Miller. With only four nominations, no Municipal Election was held on September 26th in Roberts Arm and the four were declared elected to Council by acclamation.

Another nomination day was held on October 3rd to try to fill the remaining three Council seats.

But on October 3rd, six people came forward.

This turn of events means now Roberts Arm residents will have an election afterall, at least a by-election.

Campaigning has started and voting will take place on October 24th to choose the three new councillors.

The candidates are:

Shawn Coish
Kayla Short
Amy Simms
Ronald Walsh
Douglas Winsor
Wade Wiseman
