The Department of Transportation and Works is advising drivers of vehicle restrictions on the Pilley’s Island Causeway Bridge because of work to replace the bridge deck.
They say the westbound lane will be demolished. This will “facilitate the reconstruction followed by the demolition and reconstruction of the eastbound lane.”
This means a traffic reduction to one lane, with one way traffic controlled by temporary traffic lights.
Drivers are advised to drive with care and caution, and to expect short delays.
They say the work is expected to be completed in November.
Vehicles wider than 2.8 metres and/or with overhanging loads will not be able to travel across the bridge at all while construction is underway.
Motorists in central Newfoundland are advised that vehicles wider than 2.8 metres and/or with overhanging loads will be unable to cross the Pilley’s Island Causeway Bridge due to the replacement of the bridge deck. https://t.co/q2ZaSv6z6j #nltraffic pic.twitter.com/PDVAd7Fhmr
