January 30th, 2018 ~ Miles Cove and Port Anson are listed among the 70 communities in Newfoundland and Labrador that government says “will benefit directly or indirectly from faster Internet”. $339,900 is allocated for the two Green Bay area communities.
A portion of the funding is coming through ‘Connect to Innovate‘, a program that the feds say “aims to provide Canadians in underserved communities with access to high-speed Internet by investing in backbone networks, upgrading capacity and extending access.“
Of the $39.97 million to be put to use in this province, $26.88 million will come from the federal government and $1.57 million will come from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. $11.52 million will come from “other contributors”.
The announcement was made in St. John’s on January 29th.
