December 2, 2017 ~ Maritime Resources Corp. appears pretty serious about its work in the Baie Verte-Green Bay area and it has raised its activity level in this area up yet another notch.
The Vancouver-based exploration company is working with mine operator Rambler Metals & Mining in an evaluation of the past producing Hammerdown Mine near King’s Point and, although not 100% certain, all indicators point strongly to that mine moving back into production at some point in the next few years.
Maritime has also started fieldwork at its Whisker Hill Project, located between Baie Verte Road and King’s Point. In November the company announced that, through a trenching program, it has 250 meters of a vein system there exposed and open. Samples have returned 13.42 g/t, with more results yet to be released, and drilling at Whisker is being planned for February and March 2018.
Maritime announced in March 2017 that it had optioned the Whisker property. Maritime will earn 100% interest in the Whisker property over a 5-year period. It will spend $1.65 million in exploration there.
And on October 25th, Maritime announced it has optioned yet more property in this area: the El Strato Property which sits relatively near Baie Verte road, on the west side of the Whisker Hill Project.
The 5 square kilometre El Strato property is 19 claim units owned by United Gold. Maritime says it now holds “close to 60 square kilometers of highly prospective ground”, which it is calling the ‘Whisker Valley Project‘.
The El Strato Option agreement is subject to TSX Venture Exchange approval. Under the terms, Maritime will get 100% interest in El Strato, handing over $40,000 and issuing 750,000 shares of Maritime over a two year period.
Maritime has stated Whisker Hill and El Strato contain high grade gold veins which could “significantly add high grade material to expand the Hammerdown resource with a common operating base”.
Maritime Resources has pointed out that there is an access road that runs between the Hammerdown location it is trying to develop and its newer targets at Whisker, making the properties just 10 kms apart.
Hammerdown development plans include trucking gold ore the 140 kms to Rambler’s Nugget Pond milling facility, located on the Baie Verte peninsula. The facility can process both gold and copper bearing ore types.
