Do You Have Loved Ones Buried on LBI? Then Your Help is Needed

Little Bay Islands Town Council was advised by Municipal Affairs that the community’s Municipal Election this year has been “deferred”.

Some people have interpreted this as a sign that the community is getting closer to relocation (resettlement).

We can all interpret this year, one of the last perhaps before resettlement, as one of the last chances to see that upkeep and work is more easily done there on places like the cemeteries.

If you have a relative buried at historical Little Bay Islands, the Cemetery Committee there is asking for your help. Little Bay Islands Interfaith Cemetery Committee is looking for donations for the annual upkeep of the cemeteries on the island.

The LBI Council social media post stated:

“The Interfaith Cemetery Committee would ask that families with loved ones buried in the cemeteries on the island, to make a donation to help with the annual upkeep required.

Donations may be SENT TO THE FOLLOWING ADDRESS: Little Bay Islands Interfaith Cemetery Committee at P.O. Box 69, Little Bay Islands, NL A0J 1K0 or submitted to Mr. Wilbert Weir (chair of the committee) or Mr. Robert Oxford (Treasurer) IN PERSON.

Receipts will be provided for all donations. Thank you for your continued support.”
