What must be a huge relief to many residents of Long Island and Little Bay Islands, the MV Hazel McIsaac resumed service on its Winter Schedule today.
The islanders were without a ferry for nearly three weeks and a helicopter service that was put into place frequently couldn’t fly due to weather conditions.
The MV Hazel McIssac, the ferry the islanders rely on, was out of service due to mechanical issues and that left residents stranded on one side of the water or the other. Supplies and furnace oil ran low and frustrations ran high.
Today Baie Verte-Green Bay MHA Brian Warr posted on Facebook that repairs to the ferry are not finished yet. There is a coolant leak he stated should be repaired this Thursday.
