The date for the 3rd Annual Kim Budgell Memorial Street Hockey Tournament has been announced: Saturday, June 10, 2017. 9am-5pm. It is a tournament for everyone, with male and female divisions for kids, teens and adults.
This large 3 on 3 street hockey tourney is hosted by Valmont Academy in memory of former principal Kim Budgell, who lost her fight with cancer in 2014.
To put it simply: it is a really nice tournament. This very successful annual event, which sees teams from near and far, is well-organized and has an extremely warm and friendly atmosphere. It is very much a family event, and is great for spectators as well as street hockey players. All proceeds from the day go to the CIBC Run for the Cure.
Games take place in the parking lot in front of Valmont Academy as well as behind the school in the town’s outdoor rink next to the RV park area. In the past tournaments, King’s Point’s firehall — right next door– has also been put into use as an area for food/drink.
For additional details, and the rules, visit the Event’s Facebook Page.
Teams can have a maximum of 6 players plus a goalie. Registration is $50 per team.
To register your team, message Stephen Earle on Facebook, call Valmont Academy at 268-2205, or call Ryan Kelley at 268-3344.
DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS FRIDAY, JUNE 2.
