A January Walk on the Maple Ridge Trail, Triton, NL

A January Walk on the Maple Ridge Trail, Triton, NL

A sunny January day provided a great reason for a short walk on the Maple Ridge Hiking Trail. Blue sky means ‘get outdoors’.

If you are unfamiliar with the Maple Ridge, it is a 3 kilometre trail in Triton, Newfoundland &  Labrador. The trail heads through forest, then along a bay and up to a ridge where you can drink in a broad view of the area. The trail is reported to be not overly challenging, although your legs will benefit from the workout from all the stairs.

That boulder is a real conversation starter.

The sun breaks through the trees. The Maple Ridge Trail is a very chill place.

The final destination on this January day’s walk: the first rest area.  The picnic will have to wait for Spring.
THAT VIEW THOUGH!

Heading back. Everything looked very crisp and fresh.

How nice to be greeted with this lovely scene when back at the parking lot.

This January stroll was a good taste of the trail. It was mere minutes to the first rest area and a pretty view. Doing the whole trail in summer is very much anticipated.

If you would like a taste of the Maple Ridge, head to Triton and turn towards Brighton. You’ll see the entrance to the trail next to the outdoor swimming pool. The signage for the complex is good, and the swimming pool stands out.  It is really hard to miss. (Keep in mind for warmer months: There is a public pier and boat launch next door as well.)
