High Winds Knock Out Power in Triton and Roberts Arm

December 26th, 2017 ~ It was a rough way to wake up on Boxing Day in the Triton and Roberts Arm areas. High winds knocked out power in at least portions of Triton, Brighton, Pilley’s Island and Roberts Arm. NL Hydro reported that power went out at about 8:00 am and that crews are investigating.

As of 11:36 am, NL Hydro had not specified a restoration time.

Environment Canada had issued a Boxing Day warning for west to southwesterly winds gusting to between 100 and 110 km/h. The high winds caused power outages in many places across the island.

The ferry to Long Island/Little Bay Islands was also taken out of service due to strong winds.

*Edit: NL Hydro reported at mid-afternoon that all customers had power restored.
