December 13, 2018 ~Without a doubt it’s no easy path to get a new heart.
Rev. Guy Matthews, originally from King’s Point, and his wife Deanna relocated to Ottawa in June of this year while Guy waited for a heart transplant. After 3 months of waiting, away from home, on September 27, 2018, Guy got his transplant. Guy is now a guy with a new heart.

According to the Go Fund Page set up for the couple, even after being medically cleared to come back home to Newfoundland, Guy and Deanna will need to go back to Ottawa every three months for days of medical appointments and tests during the first year that Guy lives with his new heart.
More trips will follow after the first year.
The Church Council at St. James, in St. John’s, has authorized a sub-committee called “The Guy Matthews Medical Assistance Fundraising Committee”, to raise funds to help Guy with his expensive road back to health.
A Go Fund Me campaign has been set up. It has been doing well, but is well short of its goal.
Here’s the GO FUND ME link, if you would like to donate.
