Government Issues Freezing Rain Warning for Green Bay/White Bay

Freezing Rain Warning for January 14th, 2018

Saturday, January 13, 2018 ~ Today Environment Canada issued a freezing rain warning for Green Bay and White Bay, advising of very poor driving conditions and the possibility of power cuts tomorrow, January 14th.

The warning:

“Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Ice pellets and/or freezing rain will continue into tonight, and could be quite intense at times.

Precipitation will change to snow or flurries by Sunday morning. This, combined with ground water freeze from the rain and snowmelt, will result in significant ice build-up and treacherous driving conditions.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Beware of branches or electrical wires that could break under the weight of ice.”
