January 23, 2018 ~ Vancouver exploration company Great Atlantic Resources Corp. announced yesterday that it has quadrupled the size of its ‘Pilley’s Island Base Metal – Precious Metal Property’ on Pilley’s island.
The property was expanded, by staking, to become more than four times the previous size — from 875 hectares to 4,600 hectares.
The company’s property at Pilley’s now covers over 95% of the island. Great Atlantic stated this was done to “allow for planned regional exploration over a broad area north of the Bull Road Showing and the historic Pilley’s Island Mine.” Pilley’s Island Mine operated during the 1890s and early 1900s.
Great Atlantic reported recent samples collected at a 2017 trench returned “significant results for copper, lead, zinc, silver and gold”. The company has stated the focus of its work so far on the island on has been at the Bull Road showing.
Great Atlantic is planning a diamond drilling program and additional channel sampling in the area for 2018.
